Chris G Chachis Award.....awarded to an individual who best exemplifies the spirit of Soccer in our servicing area. The individual chosen should be one has contributed unselfishly to the sport of Soccer at any level. The recipient can be a school official (coach, trainer, scorekeeper etc.);supporter, contributor at all levels( youth, adult etc.); in other words covering the broad spectrum of the sport in a positive manner."
Chris G Chachis (Bio) > Founding Father of the Orange County Soccer Officials Association > One of the original 10 faculty members on staff for OCCC when founded in 1950 > Started OCCC soccer program as coach in 1951 > Career coaching record of 104-37-14 (.716 winning percentage) > Reached the National Junior College Championship Game 5 successive years (1958-1962) > Won three straight national titles (1958-1960) > OCCC Athletic Director for 17 years > Inducted (1967) into the Helms Foundation Hall of Fame for College Athletic Directors > City of Middletown "Sportsman pf the Year" in 1967 > Inducted into Colt Athletic Hall of Fame, Class of 2012 > SUNY Orange soccer field dedicated in his honor on September 23, 1984 > Credited for building the popularity of soccer in southern New York |
